John Shiveral

I joined Voice Technologies as Chair in May 2026, having spent my career in the technology sector.

After graduating from the University of Glasgow with a First-Class Honours degree in Computing Science, I co-founded The Solution Works in 1994. What began as a small team of technology specialists grew into an international software business serving customers across the UK, Ireland and the United States.

Along the way, we developed software systems for the NHS and other public sector organisations, as well as operational management systems for the recycling and waste management sector. Following the company's acquisition by AMCS Group in 2011, I remained in a number of senior leadership roles, helping to support the business through a period of growth, acquisitions and expansion.

Since leaving AMCS in 2014, I have worked with organisations in an advisory capacity while also becoming involved in community initiatives in Argyll, where I live.

What attracted me to Voice Technologies was how familiar it felt. I recognised the same technical expertise, ambition and commitment to customers and staff that I experienced when building my own business. As Chair, I hope to provide an independent perspective, share the lessons I've learned along the way and support the team as they continue to meet new challenges and opportunities.

Voice Technologies is already on a strong path, and I'm looking forward to helping the business continue its journey.
