Placement student graduates to staff position with Voice Technologies
We congratulate David Kennedy who has been appointed to a full-time Software Developer position after working in Voice Technologies’ software development team on placement since May 2017.
David joined the company via the ScotGrad Placement programme as a Junior Software Developer. His appointment to a permanent position in June 2018 demonstrates the value long term placements can have for both graduate and employer.
Commenting on how the placement at Voice Technologies kick-started his career, David said, ‘As a graduate, finding the right job with an organisation that’s right for you isn’t an easy process. Working here for a placement year means I’ve been gaining valuable knowledge and experience, plus having a chance to really get to know colleagues and clients so I could be sure it was the right environment for me. I didn’t hesitate to say yes when the offer to stay permanently was made. Here, I’m part of a team that’s totally geared to developing software that solves problems clients’ encounter. Knowing that software you’ve helped to create is making people’s working day better is very satisfying.’
James McPherson, CEO of Voice Technologies, added, ‘The potential we saw in David that prompted us to give him a ScotGrad placement has been realised in the year he’s been with us. He’s worked hard to learn about our systems and his appointment to a staff position is testament to his value to the business. This is a great example of how we work with bodies such as ScotGrad to nurture talent in the next generation of developers. It’s a success story for both Voice Technologies and David himself and we’re delighted he’s on the team.’
