Thanks, in part, to the Voice Technologies and Dictate IT solution that saves them over £127,000 a year, University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust have been nominated for ‘Best use of IT to support healthcare business efficiency’ at the EHI Awards 2014 for the solution of trust-wide dictation and document production.
As one of the UK’s largest teaching trusts, UHCW serve over one million people across two hospitals and had been finding that the transcription and generation of letters was slow and inefficient. It was estimated that each secretary spent five hours a day managing the existing letter production process and so the Trust needed a system that could streamline letter generation and optimise the available resources.
Analysis shows that UHCW have (in addition to their cost savings of over £127,000 a year) reduced their document turnaround time by almost four minutes per letter (that’s 28,000 man-hours per year!). As a result, productivity and clinical communications have dramatically improved which has ultimately led to enhanced patient care.
Another of Voice Technologies clients, The Walton Centre, have been nominated at the EHI Awards and we would like to wish them, alongside UHCW, the best of luck at the ceremony at the Roundhouse, London on Thursday the 9th of October.
