Voice Technologies is proud to affirm the success of their very first User Conference, held at the Golden Jubilee Hospital in Clydebank on 14th November.
By bringing together some of the country’s most influential healthcare workers from both systems and user focuses, industry supporters and key sector vendors, the UK-based speech-recognition and workflow specialists have installed an outstanding contribution to healthcare technology by creating a formalised “knowledge share” community within the grounds of a NHS Board.
The objective of the event was community-driven, and with 60+ delegates from 20 NHS Trusts and Boards, Voice Technologies have continued their strive for the advancement of healthcare document production processes and secured their foothold as the leading healthcare systems provider.
The User Conference agenda was formulated to encourage both Technology and User routes, enabling delegate’s specific information needs to be identified and addressed within the correct discussion environment. Administration Managers, Secretarial services and Nursing teams opted for the User sessions such as “Optimising your System”, whereas Clinical Systems Managers, Head of Operations and Project Managers chose the Technology route, which included content such as “Speech Recognition” and “Future Systems Developments”. Technological breakthroughs were also discussed, including the Voice Technologies/Healthcare Gateway led “MiG – Medical Interoperability Gateway” project, which saw significant time-savings and improved document security for The Walton Centre NHS Trust and Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, and the innovative “Virtual Ward” scheme at NHS Highland. Additionally, financial advances were delivered with the incredible cost-savings from Barnsley NHS Trust, whose WinVoicePro installation reduced document turn-around-time from 56-days to just 1-day as well as the impressive £250,000 annual saving from NHS Tayside.
Aside from the information sessions, Voice Technologies appointed key sector partners, Speech Processing Solutions and Nuance Healthcare, to deliver bespoke third-party content to the delegates. Speech Processing Solutions (formally Philips) provided the “Hardware HotSpots” session to educate users and administrators of the SpeechMike Premium and Pocket Memo with optimised speech-recognition capability. Similarly, Nuance Healthcare informed delegates of advanced speech-recognition technology in data entry activities in their “Clinical Language Understanding” session.
